Deal or No Deal

I found a 1998 z28 a4 for sale for 4000 with 108k. It has a 2002 ls1 bored .30 over and a built transmission. However, there are a few problems with it. The owner deleted the egr and it needs ls1 edit software. Also i think it has other computer related problems. It also has a horrible paint job and ugly wheels but i can live with it for a while. Other than that its pretty clean. I can fix all of those problems but im a poor college kid. Should i buy it or should i keep my 94 z28 thats in good condition thats ready to be modified? What do yall think?

He is very very wise.

When it comes to modified cars, if i didn't do it, i don't want it. There is no telling what has been done to that car.

If you want a toy, make sure you have something to drive everyday, because toys break. Toys also get crap fuel econ, mine gets 13 highway and 11 in town.

NO DEAL!!!

I gotta say to tell you it needs LS1 Edit and already has had engine work means someone probably blew it up with poor/NO tuning.... So knowing that, how much do they know about rebuilds (Engine and Tranny)??? And why sell it after putting that work into it?? BECAUSE it's most likely a turd

Can you even bore an LS1 0.030" over without replacing the sleeves?

No... You can hone it .010 over, but that is it.

What you fond could be the start of a great project if they lower the price a bit. BUT, if this will be your DD, then I would say no. I basically did what you are consittering. I bought a $2000 beater with a good engine and trans and built an awsome car. But it took time and money and it WASN'T my only car.

I turned this:

Into this:

It took 4 months to get it on the road and looking like that. By the way, it looks like this now.

YES...It has an LS1.
