Dashboard/interior lights flickering..
Dashboard/interior lights flickering..
I first noticed my dash voltage meter fluctuating ...not much but happens after the engine is fully warmed up. Tonite I notice the interior lights were flickering with it.. I took voltage readings at the Battery and at all the fuse box inside the hood. There was a tiny voltage flickering of less than 0.4 volt if that much, on the dash however you see the meter move up and down clearly.
Anyone has any ideas?? The voltage is defenetely fluctuating.. My estimate is about 2 volts. I know people are thinking... a ground wire.. but I am also thinking a positive voltage feed.
I scanned the PCM and I dont see any voltage variations there. Has anyone been able to trace this problem before? I am thinking it has to do with the ignition switch somehow... or it could be a ground wire conection too...
has anyone been able to fix this>? it only started recently.

Re: Dashboard/interior lights flickering..
Check the ground & connector wires at the alternator. If the bolt on the back of the alt is loose it will act similar to what you describe. This is not something that I know of being an issue on these cars, just all cars in general..

Hey I connected a 4700 Microfarad Capacitor between the alternator positive and ground by the red power box on the passenger side and it did reduce the amount the voltage variation to almost nothing... I have a Brand new Alternator and its charging good... I am going to loosen up, clean and re-attach all the ground connections to the engine since the Alternator is firmly attached I dont think there is a ground issue between it and the engine.. maybe the problem is between the engine and the cars body.
