I just did the cutout install. Oh dear, the sound of an open cutout is sweet! I put it where the cat used to be, it's not an electric one but a really 'bang for the buck' modification. But don't trust guys saying you can drive with cutout open all the time - it's impossible, I bet they are either deaf or equipped with some ear plugs

the reason you can't hear anything and that you are getting knock is due to location.

i installed mine just before the axle, and ran with it open for months at a time...no problems and i could hear the radio fine.

i understand that since your cat was clogged it made a good place for it, but other than that situation i would not reccomend that spot.

I have my Dmh elec cutout in that same spot. i love it! coolest mod yet. pics in the sig.

 

I'm going to get one this summer when I get my car insured.

Only I'm going to get it installed on the bend of pipe immediatly before the muffler.
Sound and exhaust will exit via the rear..........sorta........
