Cruise Control stops working - accellerator stuck
Hi, 1995 Z28 my cruise control works ok when you start off, after hitting the brakes a couple of times, the system stops working - that is you can not recall or reset a speed. If I stop and turn engine off then start off again it functions correctly until I hit the brakes again (appears i can hit once or twice before system fails) For the record - I do know that the CC will deactivate on brake or accelerator application - for obvious safety reasons! , What I am saying is that the system does not work at all until engine is stopped. One other thing I should mention is that some months ago while overtaking a vehicle, I pushed the accel pedal pretty well down to floor, my accelerator appeared to stick on - yep pretty scary!! I had to force the vehicle to slow down that is punched the accelerator several times and brakes several times and then had to brake against the engine ! - it did "release" and the engine settled down again. I checked for mechanical reasons for this occuring but found nothing. I gingerly drove the vehicle over the next few weeks and since several months and this hasnt occured since. (Sure as hell could've used an engine kill switch then -like on motorcycles. Why dont Cars have them) I am suspect that the accel sticking may have actually been electrical - that is cruise control failed to come off and stuck on the set speed and I was fighting against this set speed once I had backed off the overtaking speed. I have also suspected that while moving the indicator stalk to veer back into lane that i may have hit the reset previous speed button, and as I was travelling down hill after ovetake this may have seemed like the accell sticking but it all happened pretty fast and I have no way of veryfying that is what happened. Now it appears I'm left with some sort of CC malfunction. Anyone else had this problem. My vehicle is absouletly factory standard 100,000km (not miles) and always kept in good service and tune.Cheers Yacka - Down Under (australia)
