Coupe Ttop Vert Difference
Coupe Ttop Vert Difference
Hello. I have a 95 z28 convertible and am in the process of getting a 98 trans am convertible. I am wondering and have heard this but heres the question.
Do 0-60 and quarter mile times change between having a coupe a ttop or a convertible fbody? Thanks in advance

Re: Coupe Ttop Vert Difference
Im pretty sure the coupe and t-top would be about the same but a vert would be a little slower due to the added weight. I think verts are about 100lbs heavier but idk for sure.
Re: Coupe Ttop Vert Difference
Yea knew verts were around 100-150lbs heavier dont think that would make too much of a diff. but drag is what i was worried about. im just wondering the differences it makes on quarter mile and 0-60 really because i cant seem to find anyone who knows
Re: Coupe Ttop Vert Difference
Well they say for every 100 lbs you remove, you run about .1 sec quicker in the quarter mile. So im guessing verts are .1-.2 seconds slower than coupes. Most drag strips require the top to be up, or the t-tops on and the windows up in order to race anyway so drag shouldnt be that much of an issue.

Re: Coupe Ttop Vert Difference
Some of the fastest/quickest 4th Gens have been convertibles....... Black LS1 T/A running 7's, 30th SS running 8's, etc. Does make one wonder how much the extra weight and the aerodynamics slowed them down though.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea I truly agree that having a convertible is great. Really just a question that i was wondering about doubt it wouldve made me stop gettin verts. thanks guys...now a question for ya guys. What would you take on the quarter mile_ 95 z28 vert weighing 4450lbs or 98 trans am vert weighing 4650lbs
Re: Coupe Ttop Vert Difference
Yea thing is that my z28 is an automatic and trans am manual, im young so i dont really know the answers to some questions but heres another question. How big of a difference does having a manual over an automatic in 0-60 and quarter mile make? i know it depends on how good of a start and shifter the person is but lets just say for reference...

I think the LS1 cars are a little lighter due to the aluminum block. The 98+ f-bodys are faster by a good margin though.
