Is it normal for the AC compressor to turn on and off when the ac is not on? I noticed tonight while the defroster was on the compressor would click on and off every 10 seconds or so. Then with the HVAC controls off no more clicking...does this mean something like low freon? Last time I ran the Ac it was cooling fine..

 

The compressor runs in normal a/c, bi-level and defrost. It's normal for it to cycle.
