Compression test with headers off?

Compression test with headers off?
Can you correctly do a compression test with the headers off? I have edelbrock mids and can not get access to the plug holes with the tester at all.

Headers on or off will have no bearing on a compression or leakdown test.

Can I reuse my header gaskets or will I need to get new ones?
