Most of the name brand intakes will run around the same cost. They all accomplish the same thing. Some people have had good things to say about the cheaper Ebay intakes, others have not.

I didn't even realize in your sig you have an LS1 which uses an airlid system. You can still switch to a cold air intake system, you just have another option to consider though as well.

whoa

this is for an LS1 camaro....and people are reccomending the K&N???

if you want the best cai for a air-lid style intake you're gonna want to go with something like the SSRA and any aftermarket lid.

all lids are basically the same when it comes to performance. only difference is look (clear, black, textured, smooth etc), material (plastic or cf) and cost.

and under the lid you can install a small scoop like the FTRA to draw air from under the nose of the car. or you can go one step farther and get a SSRA which has a 2x13" scoop located under the nose of the car and functions as a true ram air at higher speeds.

total will be about $300 depending on where you get it. but it will be the BEST intake for the Z28 style hood...by far!!

typical gains for a reduced temperature intake is 1% power increase for every 10deg of temp drop.

so even if you're only getting a 20-30 deg drop in intake air temps, you're looking at a reasonable amount of gain.
20% x 300hp = 6hp
30% x 300hp = 9hp

and that's assuming a pretty small temp drop, as well as not accounting for any "ram air" affect of the scoop at higher speeds (over 75mph).
