Coil wire ARCING to water pump
Coil wire ARCING to water pump
Does anyone have any experience with this? I just replaced the opti spark and the car runs fine - but the coil wire plug is arcing to the water pump housing? What would cause this to happen now as opposed to before the opti swap? Did I not ground something properly? Inuneer? Shoebox? Thanks!
Re: Coil wire ARCING to water pump
I had the same problem when I changed my opti. My wires were old but did not seem brittle. When I put everything back together and drove for a few hours it started misfireing and backfireing. I checked my wires with an old hairspray trick and saw that many of my wires were arcking. Including my coil wire. Your wires might have been fine until you started moving them. Don't just change your coil wire, you'll be sorry.

Re: Coil wire ARCING to water pump
Shoebox and all, I thank you for your input. I am replacing the coil wire tomorrow. I will hopefully be able to get away without replacing every spark plug wire as well. It is also worth mentioning that the pigtail connector on the water pump broke - I am 99% sure that I have the polarity correct though. Hopefully that's not a contributing factor in this. Either way, I will be replacing the connector soon.
I'll keep everyone posted.
