changing gauge face.....
I really want to install a new gauge face on my Z but i have never ever done it on any vehicle before. so i am looking for help and also suggestions on what brands to go with and all that good stuff. I have a white Z so i figure that white gauges with a reverse glow would look really nice.
thanks in advance,
fred

Re: changing gauge face.....
I haven't heard of any problems among any of the brands. Just be careful if you get them off ebay because I see people selling PHOTO COPIES of the over lays and the buyers don't read the fine print and wonder why they received a photo copy for $20.
The install is pretty straight forward. It should come with instructions. One important note is to write on a piece of paper where all the needles point when the cars electrical system is on so you know where the needles should be pointing when you put them back on. If you run into any problems feel free to instant message or PM me.

Re: changing gauge face.....
Ive got the guages. but no instructions. need LS1 type instructions, all i can find is 93-96. but since i have a 97, the dash is the LS1 style, if you have them, let me know thanks.
Re: changing gauge face.....
Don't have the instructions, here is my best at explaining it.
First mark where the needles point like I described in my first post. I think there are two or fours screws holding in the bezel. Two of them are on the top part, they screw in upwards. There might be two more. After you unscrew the screws holding in the bezel the bezel will still stay in place because of clip "thingies"
. So you have to pull it out and play with it a little because it likes to stay hugged around the steering column.
I did this install a while ago so it's a little hazy in my head, but once you have the bezel off it should be pretty obvious what screws need to come out to get the cluster out. It's kind of hard to explain, but there are no wires you have to unhook, so once the screws holding in the cluster are taken out you can pull the cluster right out.
I don't remember how the plastic lens comes off, but again it shouldn't be too hard to figure out by looking at it.
Then CAREFULLY pull off the needles.
The gauge overlays stick on with like a double sided tape, so you just have to peel it off, stick it on your wall like me.
Then place your new overlay on the cluster.
With the needles still off, put the cluster back in. Turn the cars electrical system on and put the needles on so that they point where you wrote down they should.
Then put the lens and bezel back on and say "wow".

Re: changing gauge face.....
I don't have indiglos so I couldn't tell you what to tap into for power.
If your dash is like mine (98+) yes, the dash will stay together without the bezel. The screws can be reached by just taking out the bezel.
