Cats or No Cats??

I realize this is probably a subject mentioned already on here and I've looked around a little bit but I've been thinking about taking my converters off and I've talked to a couple other Z guys and they say their car didn't run the same with the cats off. It wouldn't idle right and lost some hp and I couldn't understand how that was possible. Then I talked to a guy at a local muffler shop and he said on the new Z's it needed a tune to have the cats off or it'd just mess things up. Somebody without cats tell me how you like it, performance wise. Thanks...

I think by this tune, he means to fix any ses codes being thrown which is not a big deal. I know 2 guys who run no cats both have camaro SS's. No performance problems, just a nasty sound (one had cutout, one had loudmouth.) I just ordered flowtech headers with offroad y pipe, so I will tell you how I like mine in a week or so.

Laid down 330 rwhp with my stock maniflods, ORYP and Borla exhaust setup. Only other mods were a lid, filter, maf & 160* stat. Car runs good and sounds bad-***. See the website for vids.
