Where can you recycle the substrate platinum etc, from a catalytic converter off a 95 z28? I'm near the boston, MA area but can't seem to find a place that accepts it after it has been removed. I didn't even gut my cats for performance, this is just extra stuff accumulated over years from clogged cats and extra parts.

My issue is that:
What is this platinum and other metals inside now unrecyclable?
Wouldn't that drive the price up higher instead of deterring thieves and cat gutters?
Or are the recyclers trying to force a mixed scrap price, thus screwing over the scrapper?
Angry at the system's absurdity and poor logic.
