Question catalytic converter / o2 sensor..

1997 Camaro RS... 3.8L V6, if I remove my catalytic converter will it mess up anything seeing as there is a o2 sensor before and after it.. and if it does is there anyway to bypass it so it will work with out a cat. and not mess **** up?
Any Idea?

Well you could get an 02 simulator to plug into the rear 02 sensor connection that will trick the PCM into thinking a functioning cat. is there. But for the very minimal gain you will get, it probably isnt worth doing.

Agreed.

If you have emissions to worry about... removing the cat will just be a pain. It won't hurt anything though if you do remove it. The O2 sensor after your cat is just to see if your cat is actually functioning properly, it doesn't actually affect/controll anything.

The only thing you'll notice is your check engine light will come on (because it thinks that the cat isn't working, when it's actually not there)

So you can live with that, or get an O2 sim.
