Car won't start/resets trip odometer?

'97 Z28 - LT1.

For the past 2 mornings I've gone out to start the car and it will turn over, begin to start and then die. When I start the engine again, it starts right up as normal but the trip odometer has been reset. Otherwise it runs fine and starts fine the rest of the day.

I think battery voltage/connection is ok because the starter cranks as normal and the dash board and car power are still active after the stall. (I'll check for sure tonight)

If it was just the engine dying I'd chalk it up to an old engine (with 186,000+ miles on it) but the trip odometer getting reset bugs me.

Any idea what might be causing that?

sounds electrical to me...

check connections on the battery first, then check the battery itself. have it tested.

my guess is its shot.

Just to close out - It appears to have been a loose battery cable on the negative terminal. I finally got time to inspect it and haven't had an issue since.
