Car turns over but wont start?
I have been having trouble with my car lately with battery and alterntor problems. anyways the car died about 2 weeks ago and so i charged the battery and got the short and everything figured out but now the car just wont start. it turns over no problem, and tries to start, once i even got it to but it was just barely running maybe 400 rpm idle and then it died. couldnt even ghive it throttle to keep it running.
i can here the fuel pump going so i dont think that is it. but i was playing around with the main power wire going to the starter. but if that had anything to do with it i dont think it would even turn over. also every couple times i turn the key to start it just clicks then i try again and it will turn over.
i figure the starter solenoid is on its way out, but could that have anything to do with the problem with the car starting. this car is starting to become a real pain in the ****
any ideas.
maybe ignition, could it still be a fuel pump even though i can hear it running. just seems to be a coincident that im having problems with the car starting and what seems to be the solenoid, im hoping they are connected.
oh yeah this is a 92 lumina car, not my camaro, that is running strong

Re: Car turns over but wont start?
If it cranks strong, check for proper fuel pressure (with a gauge) and for spark. Same basic things you would do on any FI car. This is actually an f-body forum, not Lumina. :blah: Sly of you to put that is not an f-body at the end of the post.

Check the Throttle Position Sensor too...I had to replace that in my '86 IROC when I was having similar problems...did the trick...only about 15-20 bucks anyways, so really have nothing to lose...really easy replacement.

i was throwin a CPS code and would die all of a suden, it turned out my harmonic balancer was broken and was slipping and the the opti rotor was broken too, and that made it not turn over.
