Car clunks while turning
Car clunks while turning
Hey guys,
Recently my car has started to clunk (cant find a better word to describe it, but it feels like as if the car is running over a rock at least 3 inches high) whenever i cut the wheel all the way, like making u turns. Could it be bushings or something worse?
Also sorry lol I havent had heat since i got this 94 z28 in early 2004, im guessing either the heater core is shot or plugged up. How could i go about flushing the heater core?
And lastly, I need to replace my brakes soon, what is everyone's opinions on the best brake pads?
Thanks guys,
Dan

Re: Car clunks while turning
I had a similar clunk and feel when my front wheels were out of alignment - I had already replaced the end links; YMMV.
It sounds like you need a shop manual.
You can flush the core by using low pressure (read: garden hose) water through it. If the core is shot (likely), it's not exactly cheap to replace (was ~$200, IIRC).
For brakes, use the search feature of the forum. Are you just doing pads or pads and rotors?

Re: Car clunks while turning
I'd move this to "Suspension, Chassis and Brakes", but you've also included the heater core, which belongs on "General F-Body Tech & Info". In any case, none of this belongs on "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech". Moving.......
Re: Car clunks while turning
I doubt it's a broken tranny mount as that clunk occurs on acceleration; he stated that he only hears it when he cuts the wheel all the way.
Jack up the front of the car and have a buddy turn the steering wheel from lock to lock while you inspect the steering/suspension system.

Re: Car clunks while turning
Dan,
for the brake I recommend Raybestos stuff!
Your clunk........ check all the suspension hardware for loose connections.
I had a simmilar problem at the rear end...... the sway bar endlinks were beat-up
hope this help
