Car caught a cold, please help (cold miss)
Car caught a cold, please help (cold miss)
I guess cars get sick from staying out in the cold all night just like us...
I seemed to have developed a miss/stumble when the car is cold that gets better as the engine gets warmer and disappears in close loop. It's not a lean miss like my old Firebird; it just stumbles/jerks for a sec. Feels like when you're going over a speed bump. Also, my low coolant light has been coming on for the past couple days but I haven't been able to check it when it's cold. Are these issues related?? Maybe water dripping on the distributor cap?? Any ideas?

The low coolant light does no interface with anything except the light on the dash, so that's not causing a problem, unless its coming on because the radiator is frozen up
, or its leaking on the Opti as you mentioned.
Check the coolant temp sensor. If it isn't telling the PCM the actual "cold" temperature, its not going to run very well until it warms up, and may be hard to start.

Thanks for the reply. I think one of the spark plug wires may be shorting out on one of the header primaries because it requires more voltage to fire the spark plug when the driving condition is cold means there is more resistance which means if I have an electrical leakage at the wire or boot the voltage is going to travel down that path of least resistance.. when the motor warms up the path of least resistance is the spark plug gap rather than the electrical leakage at the wire or boot (or wherever it may be) therefore the miss fire goes away... Does that make sense?
