Can't figure out stock security system on 97 Camaro

Basically, when I lock my doors and then unlock them with the key the horn goes off in the alarm mode. It is not right away, but it is when I get in the car. Can anyone tell me how to turn this off?

Why are you opening the car with the key? If it's the same as mine when the alarm is armed and you open the door with the key you have about 8 seconds to get the key in the ignition before it goes off. Doesn't happen if you unlock it with the remote.

I don't have a remote. I bought it a few weeks ago and only received 1 set of keys without a remote.

I'd get a remote and program it to the car yourself.

Just spoke to the local dealer. They want $63 for the key pad, $38 for the keys and $85 for the programing....

You can get a remote from different places online and program it yourself with instructions on my Tech Page.

Awseome. Thanks for that. Any idea where I can/should get the keypad? Aftermarket or GM?
