There is no paint code info in the VIN. It is on the sticker on the door.

In answer to your PM:

The dealer can run your VIN and tell you exactly what options were installed on the car, the colors for exterior and interior, etc. As Shoebox points out, you can find all this info in the RPO codes on your build tag.

As far as how many other vehicles were painted SOM, the info is available in a book called "Camaro White Book" by M. Antonick.

In 2001 there were 29,009 Camaros produced.
Of the total, there were 1,146 coupes and 234 convertibles painted SOM

There were 6,332 SS's produced
Of that total for SS's, there were this many SOM:

M6 Coupe - 234
M6 Conv - 37
A4 Coupe - 170
A4 Conv - 44

I am not aware of any source that can tell you the sequence number for an SOM SS. You might want to contact SLP and see what they can tell you.
