Cammed car having trouble with cold starts
What's up with the cold starts? As soon as I got my hotcam kit installed with midlengths, it takes a lot of chug chuggin' to get the car to turn over. I turn the key on, especially in the morning, and I have to hold the key on "run" for 5 to 10 seconds before the engine starts. Is this common when you add a cam or is there something else going on?
On a side note, I have also been having problems with what I suspect is the starter. When I turn the key I just get one click and the sound of a small motor winding down...car doesn't even try to start. I turn the key off and on a few times and then I get the engine started.
Could these be related issues? The cold starts started happening before the "no start" issue in the second paragraph.
Thanks. So many issues with my car lately.

Did you get a computer retune for your mods?
Leaving the key in run for longer than 2 seconds (the amount of time the fuel pump primes) doesn't actually do anything.
You other problems may be a poor connection or the starter itself.

Yes, I got an email tune from PCMforless. To clarify, I meant that I turn the ignition on and the engine tries to turn over. Anyhow, If I let the car try to turn over, it eventually does start but just takes a while. If it doesn't start but keeps chugging, then I turn the key to off again and retry and it usually starts right up. Guess I'll have to get it looked at.

Re: Cammed car having trouble with cold starts
Put a fuel pressure gauge on and check your fuel pressure after the fuel pump primes (fuel pump runs for 2 seconds when the key is placed in the run position). There's a check valve in the fuel pump and if it fails or gets hung-up from dirt, it will cause your fuel pressure to drop off after priming is complete, cause hard starting. You could also have a flooded condition that can cause hard starting. Hold the gas peddle to the floor when starting; this will signal the computer to provide less fuel when starting.
