Are Camaro window motors Wimps ??

the window motors on my 01 Z-28 seem slow compared to other cars I have owned. Is this a weak part or am I just being to critical?

shoebox would know better than I, but i'd always heard that the part# for the camaro power window motor is the same as most other GM cars.

so basically they put a little motor on a giant window.

I will kinda agree with that. It is a huge window with compound curves and also frameless. That makes it even tougher on the motor.

I don't know if the motor is exactly the same as in other models, but the physical attributes of it are the same as what is used in many. I get emails of people using my general instructions on all kinds of GM cars.

Badge - just be thankful they're still working...have a new one sitting here going in the passenger side this weekend w/21K...only used it when I had the T-Tops off...which wasn't very often.

Sure, it's cheaper to stock just one motor than lots of different ones. It's easier for the same motor to operate a small window on a 4 door car than a big window on a 2 door one.

Mine went out a few months ago and I replaced them with some that have a lifetime warranty. I think they're called ADI, ADP, something like that. This is nice because if they ever fail, you can get a new motor for free. Check it out.

Yes. There are many, many anecdotes about this. My 97 has had the drivers side done twice and the passengers done once. Classic case of under engineering. The old black motors weren't that much bigger and were much better.
