Camaro SS Hood/Intake Question

I made this account after realizing i couldn't find answers to any of my questions online....i have a '95 z28 & i recently ordered an fiberglass ss hood, i'm not sure of the structure of the slp factory ss hood, the hood i ordered has the functional vent & openings down by the latch & i wanted to know if i ordered an intake which sat on top of the manifold would i get the proper performance with the aftermarket hood

Post a link to the hood you bought. Hard to understand your description, or what it looks like.

Re: Camaro SS Hood/Intake Question

That definitely isn't the right routing for a factory-type LT1 SS airbox. The correct one would have a large rectangular opening directly over the intake manifold. The routing in those pics appears to be designed for an LS1 type airbox, which mounts on the core support. In fact, that whole hood looks to be for an LS1 car. The scoop on the white car appears to be the wider LT1 SS one, but the pics of the raw hood clearly depict the narrower 98-02 style. Kinda makes me wonder what hood you're actually going to get, exactly.

Re: Camaro SS Hood/Intake Question

Or maybe they have designed it to use the Firebird WS6 LT1 ram air box?

I'd like to see pics. From what you're saying, it sounds like your hood is a 98-02 type designed to fit the earlier cars. Not sure what you mean by "double head intake." Are you talking about the type (offered by Vararam, IIRC) for the C6 Corvettes that uses two conical filters, side by side? If so, I don't believe such a thing exists for our cars, and im not sure it would fit anyway. A setup along the lines of the LT1 WS6 airbox would work. If you're handy with metal or fiberglass, you could probably make a custom unit that mates to the hood.

You are correct in both post. This is an "LS1 design", built to fit LT1's, and requires an LS1 type intake routing, like the LS1 Blackwing box/filter.
