Camaro Alarm Problem

I have a 1996 Camaro 3.8L which has been my daily driver for the last 7 years and will become my brothers car in about a week.

Two nights ago, the alarm started doing something strange. When ever I lock the car...the horn beeps twice like normal, then 5 seconds later the alarm goes off with 2 horn beeps again (but slower...like if I accidentally hit the panic button) and then stops after 2. Also, the other night, I awoke to hear my car alarm going off but when I went outside the car was fine and I didn't see anyone. It has been doing this since then. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey RichieB16

I had a similar problem. Turned out that water running down inside the hatch went into the sensor unit and was making the sensor trigger. Apparently when I opened the hatch when it was raining, the water ran down and onto the sensor. (Sensor is above the spare tire under the spare tire cover... passenger side in trunk.
You may have the same problem but I thought I would throw this out in any change of help.

Disconnect the shock sensor temporarily and see if it stops.
