which one is gonna be nicer?
i know the vette should be about even with the z, but how are they habndling wise?
which one do you think would be better?
and yea, i'm THINKING of trading or selling the z, but probably not
but then again, vettes are really nice...

C4.
It's a Vette. Yeah, there's some nostalgic with our F-bodies, b/c most of us put so much time into them. Kinda cool to modify and see gains as you add more stuff.
Also, don't forget..you can modify the C4 as well...just cost you a hell of a lot more.
Why don't you go to a dealership and take a used C4 for a ride first.
Personally, I can't afford buying a $50K car...rather dump $10K into my $18K used Z28 and be happy with it.
You'll be happy either way...

I work at a shop that specializes in Corvettes only, and would rather own a F body. Corvette opti-sparks are harder to change due to the way the hood opens and no access from the bottom, clutch replacement is a lot more $ due to the fact the ZF 6 speed has a dual mass fly-wheel that needs to be replaced with the clutch and cant be resurfaced, the build quality is no better than the F body... seats fall apart like crazy, weatherstrips fall apart, etc... independant rear suspension has more parts that can fail. A/C components are more $ than an F body. I could type more things but I think you get the idea. And as stated above they are expensive to repair.

Yeah we do put a lot of time into them, But I think there is just as much nostalga in a stock camaro/firebird as a vette. Its all in the eyes of a beholder, there is still a strong following to impala SS's and their FWD slugs now,(2006 will change that statement It's a Vette. Yeah, there's some nostalgic with our F-bodies, b/c most of us put so much time into them.
) but to somepeople thats even better than any vette or f body. As far as handling goes i could spend 5k and make my handling way better than a stock vette and would still ring in at far less total price. Ultimately only can decide which one is going to be nicer, and whatever you choose no one can say you wrong b/c you like it and thats all that matters.Just my .02 cents

C4 versus 4th gen- It's 4th gen all the way for me. The performance of the two is so close that I'm not willing to give up the utility of the backseat and hatch. $50K???? Are you sure you're not thinking C5? A real nice C4 can be scored in the 20s, even in the teens. Now C5 versus 4th gen, the camaro goes down in flames. But it better for the $30K difference.
Zero argument on the image. My 30th annv car is pretty high profile, but can't compete with a plain-jane vette for curb appeal. That sux. Later

Are we all forgetting the dog days of the 80's pre LT1 C4's? I have layed waste to many an L98 car and that was when I was stock. I think they were rated at 230 HP from the factory. That is.....dare I say it......SN95 territory. Then you have to factor in the old-cocky-bastard-that-cant-drive factor of the people that USUALLY own vettes, and that leaves the 4th Gen F-body as the winner in this comparo.......Originally Posted by Deckstripes

Have you ever tried getting into a C4? Its a royal pita with the high door sill. One great thing nobody has mentioned is that the Vette is lighter. It also comes with wider tires stock.
I think I'd choose the fbody for a daily driver, but definetly the Vette for the occasional weekend toy.

yea well, i'm gonna see if it's still there
good chance it's an auto anyways, so if it is, there is no way i'm getting it
autos are nice for d/d (like my rs) but my fun toy needs to be a stick
i'll let you guys know what i do, thanks for all the opinions/advice

Over the years I've owned both. I sold my 87 Vette to get my 97 SS. I've always leaned towards Camaro's because of the dollar vers. perfomance ratio.
Near Vette performance at Camaro prices. The LT1 Vette vers. the LT1 Camaro is pretty much a heads up for me. I like both. It would just depend on the deal.

Re: c4 vs. 95 z28
I had the same choice to make a while back and I kept the Camaro. It looks nicer. It is cheaper and easier to work on. In terms of performance, the Camaro is on par with and cheaper to mod than the c4. The c4 is a freaking rattle trap full of squeaks etc. Ugh!
