Re: A/C Just Went Out
thats a pain. that happened on my old camaro. ended up being such a nuisance that i sold the thing. no AC in south florida is unacceptable. hope you get it all figured out.
Re: A/C Just Went Out
From what I understand there is a relay that keeps the compressor from running when you refrigerant gets low (likely b/c of a faulty/leaky compressor). Im in the same boat just waiting for it to get too warm to stand any more before getting it replaced.
Re: A/C Just Went Out
Mine hasn't worked since I got it.
I'm going to have a friend pull vacuum on the system and try to charge it and see what happens. I will probably put some dye in there and see if I can see any leaks. If nothing happens once we try and charge it, I'm going to go ahead and replace the compressor and dryer (what a ****ty job that looks like). Oklahoma can get sticky as hell in the summer..especially in a black car

it sucks i know i live in south florida too and its too damn hot so most likely its just a relay hopefully, if not its going to have to wait until my engine gets here
Re: A/C Just Went Out
Most automobile A/C systems have a low pressure cutout switch, that is, a switch that keeps the A/C compresser from running when the level of refrigerent, (indicated by pressure in the system), falls to the manufactures pre-determined level so no damage to the compresser will occure. Whaat to do about it? Like fast chevy says, you can put a vaccum on the system, check for leaks, repair, vacuumagain to remove any air that infiltrated the system during the system repair, and recharge the system. That is the correct way to repair the system and will result in the best results. HOWEVER- You can also go to your local superstore- to the automotive department -and get a can of R134a refrigerant, with the hose attached and try to refill the system yourself sometimes the system just needs a little 134a installed, enough to keep the low pressure switch from keeping the compresser operating. The hose on the can will only fit the proper AC connection under the hood. There's more to this story but this will get your AC up and running most of the time.good luck I hope this helps. 93ZTED -plattted@sbcglobal.net if you need more Info.
Re: A/C Just Went Out
The 94 has a bit more complicated system but you do have R134 refrigerant so a standard refill can with the hose on it will work. Put some in with the AC turned on and watch for the compressor to start working. If not, you have another problem, but I'd guess it just needs a shot of refrig.
