buy new cats or ory-pipe???

Had a code for my catylyst syatem come up and my whole exhaust is rattling now. Since the car is under 80,000 miles, my chevy dealership said that they would fix them for free after they diagnose it and thats what the problem is. Well the thing is, they will charge me $70.00 just to diagnose it. I can have my muffler guy remove the cats and cut me a 2.5 inch y-pipe for $80.00. I dont have to deal with emissions here, so I was just trying to look into both options.....Any suggestions???

I'd prolly go with the ORY pipe, but I think you will have to do something with the O2 sensor so it won't trip a code....hopefully someone can give some more specific info about what you need for the swap.

Without the sims you will get a code and the SES light will come on. No you do not need a custome tune.
