I don't think you can find just a screen. Lots of people run without one. Some are ok, some are not.

The screens pop up for sale every now and then on the Parts for Sale forum. I've picked up a couple of them in the past from other board members.

I ripped my screens out. It did me no harm. I actually noticed a bit of difference. So i ported the thing out. No harm, no foul.

However, people will tell you that it's wrong, bad, blah blah. It's up to you to decide how far you want to take it. Just be informed of what COULD happen. It's an expensive part to mess with.

Was'nt saying it was................but have read some posts where some have run without an air filter () or poorly fitting one and the screen caught the stuff that got by.

I've never seen anyone claim that in the ten years I've been on these forums, and a half-dozen others.

I have seen posts from people who documented poorer gas mileage, rough idle and surging.

You can leave it in or take it out. I too have taken mine out of the 98 and had no issues. I have heard that its best to get a tune to make sure the MAF is calibrated for the extra air flow but I think its a pretty safe mod.
