bottomed out , now no power
bottomed out , now no power
Was on the highway and came up on a bridge at a high rate of speed, The car scrubbed on the bottom pretty hard and since then I'm getting no response under a load. I can creep along but when I put my foot in the gas it feels like its running without spark plugs, hardly moving. If I leave my foot in it eventually a little bit of power will kick in but not like it is supposed to. I changed out all the plugs and checked all the wires. The problem still persists. Any help is appreciated.
Re: bottomed out , now no power
If you can get the car to an AutoZone or Advanced Auto they will scan it for free
I would say that should point you in the proper direction, since I would think you would notice a crushed exhaust or missing o2 sensor on visual inspection.

Re: bottomed out , now no power
What you need is a scanner for a 95 fbody (or perhaps all GMs?). That is the configuration of the 95, an OBDII port with and OBDI PCM. Perhaps you already know that, but I just thought I would mention it in case you were not aware.
Re: bottomed out , now no power
codes were maf circuit , and high map sensor reading which has always been there due to my camshaft. Upon visual inspection it loks like my MAF sensor hit my ignition coil pretty hard. The car runs better with it unplugged but of course its not running like it should.
Re: bottomed out , now no power
Tried a different MAF sensor and nothing changed. Also when i put the car in first gear its acting like its in park. Could I have busted my cap and rotor from bottoming out? Jumped timing? Last time i bottomed out in the same exact place , My oil pickup tube fell off the pump and I bought a retainer bracket from jegs to keep it held on. Could I have possibly pinched the oil pickup tube? Would that make the car act the way it is??
Re: bottomed out , now no power
I've tried a MAF sensor from a junkyard, and I dont see anything upon visual inspection, exhaust isnt crushed. The car starts up and blows white smoke everytime I hit the gas, Stumbling very hard and stalling alot most of the time its as soon as you put the car in gear. If I'm goin down the road I can put my foot to the floor and it doesnt do anything but backfire through the intake and 5-6 seconds later it will start going just a little bit. Any other suggestions before I pull the waterpump and check the cap/rotor?? Any input is appreciated.
Re: bottomed out , now no power
White smoke sounds like a head gasket.
What does the coolant in the radiator look like? Pull out the oil dipstick and see if oil looks like oil or something else.

Re: bottomed out , now no power
oil looks fine, maybe the junkyard maf sensor was junk? Is there a way to test it? Why else would I get a CEL for a MAF circuit? Then again I dont think the maf sensor is the problem since im pretty sure it is ignored at WOT, Also the CEL usually only comes on when I come to a stop the car will act like it wants to stall out rpms drop to around 5-600 and the Check engine lights up. Fuel filter has also been checked.

Re: bottomed out , now no power
The MAF sensor is always used. It tells the PCM how much air is entering the engine, so the PCM can add the right amount of fuel. Why would the PCM ignore it at WOT???????
MAF sensor will not cause white smoke.
What were the exact codes? A lot of time, people use the wrong code list, and not the one like Shoebox has specifically for the LT1.
Did you check the inlet elbow for tears, or for coming off the throttle body? If the intake shifted enough for the MAF to slam into the coil, you may have damaged or loosened the intake duct.
