Body Control Module??

I have a 2002 ws6 and the sound in my stereo keeps coming in and going out at random time mostly when I hit bumps. Sometimes it will work all day then hit a bump and can't get any sound for anything. All the lights and everything work just no sound. I know this is a stereo question but my girlfriend has a 01 impala is haveing the same problem. On the forums the bcm is the culprit for alot of the impala problems. My question is does my car have a bcm, where is it, and could this be the problem???

thanks

keep in mind this is a 2002 ws6 not the car in my sig. Just got it friday thanks

Yes you have a BCM. Its under the dash on the passenger side behind the glovebox infront of the HVAC blower. Remove the cover panel under the dash to find it. Should be 3 connectors w/ multiple wires. From everything I've been reading (on GMs) the BCMs don't seem to be the problem, but the connections (wiring) are. GM actually has a number of service bulletins for other models on this. My 00 SS was having issues & I replaced the BCM ~ wasted >$200. The wiring was pulled real tight on the harness, so I cleaned connectors, & reinstalled old one properly & don't have any Security codes or DTCs.
