Big probelm. . .

So today i put in a new water pump and thermosat after both of them sh*t on me, while taking off the thermostat housing, i pulled the throttle bottle because its just easier to get to, after it was in, i re-installed the throttle body like i have before, for the 100th time, when i went to start the car it wont idle, it will sit at about 2500 rpm. . . i checked the throttle cable, and nuthing seems to be wrong, tho there is a little bit of slack in it, could that be the probelm? its a 305 tpi, any thoughts?

Re: Big probelm. . .

IAC maybe?

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in, make sure the connection is good. It could also be a bad wire in the harness going to the IAC. Those wires are old, have been handled many times and one of them might have decided it's time was up.

You are sure the throttle blades are not being held open by something? Is the throttle stop making full contact?

Re: Big probelm. . .

yes the throttle is fully closed, thats why i dont get any of this. . . i even pulled the throttle "stopper" *that little screw back*, and it still revved really high, i tryed plugging it back in and back out, nothing, same thing over and over. . . it could be a wire, but i really hope its not, to much money into this car, time for it to go away! but if you have any other ideas, or anyone else, help me outttttttt

it the gasket in good condition on the TB?

could be getting an air leak, unchecked air into the engine could cause a similar problem.

Re: Big probelm. . .

yepp, throttle body gasket did the trick, replaced pcv anyways, having trouble finding a new elbow hose for it, since mines all cracked, but now theres a even BIGGER probelm, its leaking antifreeze from the back of the block, havent had time to jack up the car, iam guessing heater core, or one of my jackass freinds disconnected something. . . morons, but yah, hopefully something small, if something big, i need to replace that little 305 with something a LITTLE bit bigger. . . . 383??? or even bigger??? any thoughts?
