Suggest my next mod!

Well, with tax returns coming soon, I should be able to convince the fiance to let me put about $200 towards the car. I want to do some performance modifications.

I was thinking a lid and ...... this is where I get lost. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks ,
Eddie

Re: Suggest my next mod!

Is there anything else I should do that is relatively cheap, say like $100?

Re: Suggest my next mod!

Yes, please elaborate. I have been interested about this myself as I bought the car with the suspension mods already in place and was curious why there were no aftermarket LCA's. Perhaps they were next on the original owners list, who knows.

However, the car hooks very well which I contribute mostly to the torque arm, but LCA's might make it even better. Would you recommend a specific company or model? I have heard there are some with rubber bushings at one end and poly at the other in order to keep them from squeeking, does this sound right? I hate squeeks, so this would be a big plus for me.

Thanks,
Eddie

Re: Suggest my next mod!

We do not recommend lowering a 3rd or 4th generation F-Body without lower control arm relocation brackets due to the compromise in the geometry on the instant center. Brackets will significantly improve instant center position, eliminate wheel hop and increase traction. Brackets installed will also help 60-foot times of .10 or better, lower ETs and increase track consistency--a must for all lowered vehicles!

Re: Suggest my next mod!

Yes, I have eliminated the skip shift.

Thank you for the info regarding the lower control arm relocation brackets. Is there a recommended bracket (company, bolt on, weld in, etc.)? Also does anyone know who makes those LCA's with rubber bushings on one end so they dont squeek?

Re: Suggest my next mod!

LCA's with relocation brackets are good. If there's any money left, subframe connectors!

Buy a lid on looks. That's the only difference. The previous owner of my car bought the ugliest one I've ever seen.

I would definetly suggest LCAs/relocation brackets. You'll be much happier with those than you would be with a lid, unless you can afford all of it.

Re: Suggest my next mod!

bolt on brackets are a bit more expensive but are not hard to install and don't require any special welding. which makes the price not so bad.

there is a post in the suspension forum on the brackets...check there. i posted a pic of my bmr bolt ins.

got min used for $60...

as for squeaks with the poly bushings...i have yet to have a problem. i have the greasable poly/rubber setup from BMR and they work great.

I think that is the set I am going to go with should I decide to get some LCA's.

As for the relocation brackets, I just finished doing lots of reading on this using the "search" feature and am not going to install them at this time. I do not have bad wheel hop issues currently (probably due to my torque arm) and am more concerned with handling than drag racing at this time. Relocating the mounting point on the axle to a point lower than that on the chassis causes roll-oversteer. If the LCA's are parallel or axle end is slightly higher than the chassis end it causes roll-understeer which is much more controllable.

So it looks like a lid and maybe some LCA's from BMR. Hmm, and I told myself I was not going to do anything else to the suspension. Any other performance modifications yall think I should do in place of the LCA's?

Re: Suggest my next mod!

With what you've already done, I'd either go with the LCAs or swap out that BMR front swaybar for one of Strano's 35 mm bars.
I have the rubber poly BMRs, they are nice.

I would definetly buy a new shifter. When I drove your car( I was the guy that posted the sale ad), the stock shifter felt long and really awkward compared to the shifter in my car. Go with the Pro 5.0 with Lou's Short Stick.
