theres a noise coming from my rear end that sounds like a bad bearing i just replaced the wheel bearings in the back and although they were bad the noise was only partially reduced is there another bearing in the rear end that needs to be replacing or something in it

You have two axle bearings, two "third member" bearing, and two pinion bearing. Best way to tell which is bad is to jack the rear up, support it with jack stands under the axles. Run it in gear, and listen to the individual bearing with a mechanics stethoscope.

I have a '99 & my pinion bearings went bad 2 or 3 years back.Cost me just over $500 to get fixed,I complained long & loud to Chevy, not dealership, but the roadside assistance phone number from the sticker on the drivers door. They opened up a case no. for me & within a week or 2 they re-imbursed me the whole repair bill, but keep in mind I only had about 35,000 mi on the car at the time.I think the dealer told me there was a problem with some of them but not enough for a recall.Hope this helps
