Battery trouble?

Well, here is my situation...on my way home from work, i noticed that my voltage guage was reading a little low, it was 8pm so it was dark out and my headlights were on *go on automatically* and as time progesses the meter continues to dip lower and lower until eventually the "check guages" light comes on...i realize now that i am running off just the battery and my dash lights continue to dim, and my directionals blink slower and slower, eventually i am just a hair above a dead battery my headlights were out, the abs light came on, the brake light came on the check guages light came on, and the SES light was on(ses light has been on for a long time cause my electric fan is dead and was throwing a code, 1 out of the 2 still worked and didnt impact the cars performance) So now i am thinking it is the alternator, which was causein me to run off the battery...i cant check the codes..cause i dont have a predator or anything Does this sound like an alt problem? If yes then what type of alt would you recomend replaceing it with? or could it be that something was causeing the battery to drain? I just barely made it into my driveway the car was sputtering and almost stalled out. I have a 98 LS1 M6 Camaro SS. All stock except for mods in sig. thanks

Re: Battery trouble?

I would recharge your battery, and then limp to an autoparts store. Most of them can check alternators and batteries, and many can check computer codes too.

Yup, that's your alternator alright!
Give your battery a charge and get a new alt.

Re: Battery trouble?

sounds like your alternator. just take your alternator off and get it checked then if you need a new one you can just put the new one back in.
