Battery Switch?

I'm not referring to relocating the battery to the trunk and adding a safety switch, but kind of the same thing. Is there any switches used or that can be used up on the battery cables themselves in order to quickly and easily remove electrical power from the car without actually disconnecting the cables from the battery? A switch there would make getting zapped when removing or installing the battery less of a chance. Just an idea to make things easier for people who routinely disconnect their battery. Has anyone heard or done this?

Re: Battery Switch?

I use one like pictured above on my negative cable. It's a bit tight to fit in but works. The switch mounts to the battery terminal, then the battery cable connects to the other end of the switch.

Re: Battery Switch?

I've never seen on of those. Thanks for posting a pic of that, I'll have to look around the parts store next time I'm in there and check it out. That may work for what I'm trying to accomplish but what I was kind of looking for was a switch that actually splices into the battery cable itself and is a "rocker" type switch. This way with a flick of the switch you could have the power disconnected and not have to take the battery terminals off every time. Especially if you only need it off for a minute of two.

A switch like that would probably have to handle some pretty high current though.

I use one of those to diconnect the battery on my car. A good cheap and easy way to disconnect the battery.

Can you pick those up at local parts stores?
