Battery relocation and cranking issues
Battery relocation and cranking issues
Relocated the battery to the back, replaced it with a brand new Duralast with 900CA/720CCA.
Wiring is as follows:
1. Single #2 directly from positive post to starter, from starter to alternator.
2. Single #2 directly from post to distribution block, #2 from dist. block to alternator to create a full loop.
3. Ground directly from post to old drivers rear seatbelt bolt.
The engine is only 11:1 SCR but 450+ seat pressure springs.
The wiring started off just without the wire going from the dist. block to the alternator so only one wire was going to the starter.
I tried starting it up and it barely cranked it once...jumped it (attached cables directly to starter)....That worked fine.
Then I added the wire from the block to the alternator and it got a little better, it will start on its own, but really really struggles to crank it over when its cold.
Is my wire just too small, or the ground not good enough or what. One other thing, I made a sealed wooden box for the battery and the bolts thread through the wood into the posts, dont think this is causing problems, but just incase.

Im confused. I have the factory ground strap going from the frame to the block. But how am I supposed to run a ground to the distribution block when thats a positive post?
Maybe try a more heavy duty ground strap to the block?
