battery keeps losing charge

this is the second time in 2 months that I had a battery die on me. I purchased a battery from carquest and maybe something is draining it. I have my scanmaster hooked up to the radio fuse and to the computer ports all the time. Could this be draining the battery. Kinda stumped on this one anyone have advice or experience with this. Its a 94z by the way.

Re: battery keeps losing charge

Is the alternator putting out 13.8~14.2 volts??????? If something is hooked up, ie.. amp, etc... and is a direct draw from the battery, could drain it....

I had the same prob, but it turned out that I left the map light located on the mirror on....

Or it could be a bad battery... Have it load tested.....

take it to NAPA and have them analyze it. they can tell you if the alternator is charging, the battery is bad, or if something is pulling power when it's off.

i know i've had 2 cars that had the alternator go bad, while the car was off they would pull power and drain the battery. that is my guess

Re: battery keeps losing charge

The scan master is probably drawing voltage from the battery all the time that it is hooked up. I would try unhooking it first.

Re: battery keeps losing charge

well I think its the scanmaster. Alternator is good. So I am going to leave my scanmaster unhooked for about a month and see if it might be something else.I was just running the wires straight into the ports on the aldl and the power wire into the radio fuse with no clips. Figured how I can run the fuse wire with tap-a-fuse. Now the aldl ports does anyone know which size the pins are so I dont have to run straight wire into the ports. And will I have to unplug the scanmaster all the time even with the pins into the ports so my battery doesnt kill itself.
