If I do replace that connector and wire do I have to remove the alternator again or has anyone done this with the alternator in place. Is this a part that I am going to have to get from a dealer?
A pigtail is available from the dealer or AC-Delco retailer. Click the part numbers link in my sig and find it in the table of pigtails. It will be expensive.
You may be able to find alternate solutions at an auto parts store or on the internet that are cheaper. Or you could go to a salvage yard and cut one off a donor car.

I could not find the part number for the wire I need anywhere or much useful information for that matter. If I ever find that wire I need am I going to have to pull out the alternator again or Is it possible to reach it to plug/unplug it?

The part number is in the list on my site I told you to look at. Or do you mean you cannot find the part locally?

I don't know if you can get to the plug or not. I am always removing the alternator when I unplug it. Removing that plug is the last thing I do.

Sorry! I meant I could not find the part number on your site believe me I checked. I heard/read somewhere I could find the connector at an autozone so I am going to check tomorrow...if not a call dealer in my area. These cars are so dependent on a wire as thin as dental floss lol.

damn! I replaced my alternator, battery, exciter wire and my battery still isn't getting charged. I don't know what else to do . Is there any fuses that could be bad and causing me problems? I am almost out of ideas and I loathe the thought of taking my car to a dealer or mechanic...

yay I solved my problem. I replaced the exciter wire and connector and turns out the alternator I just bought was defective and I just exchanged it for another one (I made sure they tested the new one) and my car now runs perfectly.I'm SO happy. My car runs really strong compared to before .
