Axle Bearings

I tried to search this but did not find what I was looking for. I need to replace the axle bearings (obviously in the rear) and was looking for a comprehensive link of what I might need, as well as, information on how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's a 99 M6 car btw, maybe I put this in the wrong section but no one seems to answer questions in the dt section

Drop the wheels, calipers, rotors and differential cover. There should be a c clip holding the axel in. Push the axels in to make the drop.. Pull the axel out and you will see the bearing. To remove the bearing i rented a tool at autozone and they came out in less than 10 min..

I did that to my v6 a long time ago.. It may not be exactly the same on v8s but i know its real close if not the same.. Search around google if you can find anything here ..

you have to take the 8mm/5/16" bolt that holds the pin in the diff....slide the pin out then push the axle in, I would try not to turn the axle b/c you may turn the spider gears and be a bitch to line them back up

After you get the bearings out, do the new ones slide in or is a press of some form used?

I usually find a big socket about the same diameter and tap them in with that, seems to work for me, then put the seals in.

anyone know where I can find the torque specs for that 8mm bolt as well as the diff cover bolts, I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I'd like to pull this off as smooth as possible

just snug that little bolt down...maybe 8-10 pounds.

The diff cover probly around 10 or so....don't need to be real tight.
