Just a forewarning, there's a reason why they're not legal. They're nearly impossible to break, and therefore would pose complications in attempts to rescue you, should you wind up in serious trouble. If, by some chance, you flipped your car and whatnot, and found yourself needing a window to break out, you'd be S.O.L., and could very well die in your glorified, motorized coffin...

Windshield weight saving, 20 pounds.
Modern windshields are glued in with urethane which also provides structural integrity. Lexan windows are bolted/screwed in. That means they're not water tight even if there's a foam strip put under the edges. Lexan will yellow from time in the sun. Lexan will scratch easily especially from the wipers even if you buy the very expensive Marguard stuff.
Unless you're building a race car or a show car that never goes on the street, stick with glass.
