Any way to raise the rear of my Trans Am

I am running stock springs with Hal shocks with the 35mm offset 17x11 wheels and I bottom out alot. I know that my bump stops have been destroyed because of it. I am wondering if they make a stiffer stock height spring or a taller spring for our cars. Either that, or do they make a spacer for the spring seat?

Thanks,
James

Are you sure that you are hitting the bump stops.Thats a big tire you are running, maybe you are hitting the inner fenderwells. These cars have fairly stiff springs stock.takes quite a bit to bottom them out.

No, it has broken the bumpstops, they are gone. It is definitly hitting the fenderwell, and mine are rolled like a ****, like the lip is touching the backside of the fender. It hits the tire all the time when I have 2 people in the car, but not so much when it is just me.

Thats why you need the 56mm offset on those wheels.... to keep them from sticking out under the fender lip. I run the 17x11 56mm, with QA1/HAL shocks, and Eibach Drag Launch springs - no problems with the fender lips.

The best solution would probably be air bags in the springs. You can get the AirLift kit at JEG's or Summit. Another alternative would be the Eibach Drag Launch springs. They raised the back of my car about 1/2" . But the huge wheel gaps look really bad. Not as bad with the 28" slicks stuffed in there though.

You should also replace the bump stops. Repeatedly over-compressing the shocks will destroy them.

you can get some aluminum spacers that sit on top of your rear end and have a spot to hold your spring. After i put on my lowering springs my car went from 28inches in the rear down to 25 3/4. I thought that was to low so i went to my local alignment and suspension stop and got me some 1inch aluminum spacers that raise the back 1 inch. The cost about $15 a piece. Now i'm sitting at the ride height i want. If not your stock springs could be shot to. I have a set of rear springs off a 2002 I'd sell. i had bought them because my stock rears were sagging so much and causing me to bottom out a lot too. Now that i have the stiffer lowering springs its not a problem.

I run Spacers to make the 17X11's fit. If you haven't altered your bumpstops... you should, becuase they are probably rubbing.

To raise your car as Injuneer suggested Drag bags get the job done well.

It will be a much stiffer..but it will keep your wheels from rubbing fenders over agressive bumps.
