Airbag Light

I have a 97 Z28 A4. When I turn the ignition the light blinks like it normally does. But after it blinks it stays on, and then other times it goes out. What would cause this and is it easy to fix. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Airbag Light

Could be nothing more than a loose connection.

Re: Airbag Light

wasnt sure if maybe it was the key switch. Where would the connector be for something like that? And thanks for the input.

I have the same problem on my 94 3.4, it comes on and goes off or will just stay on. All the wiring on my car is messed up b/c of previous owner! wires are so annoying

Re: Airbag Light

Many of the dashboard lights have their ground connections terminated at the ground stud that is mounted on the passenger fender liner (next to the red plastic positive terminal). This ground stud gets dirty and causes intermittent connections. Remove the stud, clean the mounting surface thoroughly and reconnect.

Re: Airbag Light

actually, the ground for the airbag is in the center console...should be right by the air bag module. just undo the bolt that has the black wire attached to it, tape it up and then put the bolt back in...should work!

Re: Airbag Light

If that's the ground, then it sounds like taping up the wire defeats the system That may get rid of the light but certainly doesn't cure the problem.

Re: Airbag Light

Look for yellow connectors. Those are for the air bag system. I had one on my Grand Prix that was not making good contact. It would actually be ok in the winter and then the light would come back on when the weather got warm. That is how sensitive it was to a poor connection.
