After Market Shifter in 4th Gen?
After Market Shifter in 4th Gen?
Has anyone installed a B$M Megashifter or equiv in a 4th Gen? They say they don't make it for 4th gens but I think It will work ok ...only concern is the Automatic Transmission Control Lever Soleniod, This is what makes you have to push on the brake pedal before the shifter will move, can this be deleted? I am afraid if it is not used the ignition won't return all the way back far enough to release the key.
Anyone run across this before? I will be doing some experimenting with this to try and fnd out the answer.
Any help is appreciated!!

I have a TCI one I'm planning on putting on my '94 do a search about it, there should be something.
Basically you can just unplug all that crap but your going to have to fab up a bracket to hold it and either use the supplied console thing or a 6-speed shifter boot or else it looks ****ty and you cant manually shift 4l60e's without hurting the transmission so IMO its pointless besides doing it for looks.

My 1993 is a 4L60 ..not an E . The all computer controlled 4L60E started in 1994.I know about fabbing some of it .....just gotta make sure this solenoid can be ditched.
This one is built, but I manually shift my 99 Z28 all the time.

You should add a sig so we kno what you have...
I'm still planning on adding the TCI one to mine but the only way Ive ever seen it set up where it doesnt look like crap is if you use the 6-speed boot. You come up with anyother ideas?
And the guy that built my trannys was tellin me manualy shifing the 4l60e's is bad as the computer controls the shift points and the line pressure is higher or something like that. Anyone else care to pipe in?

OK, Flat out I don't shift the Camaro manually.....I'm just talking about horsing around. The 99 Z Tranny is stock. But the 93 shifts too soon so I have to shift it at the track....thats why I want a ratchet shifter. I am going to take the control lever solenoid off and see if everything else still works right. If so, I can make the B&M shifter work.
