Advice on Stripping a 4th-Gen F-Body
Advice on Stripping a 4th-Gen F-Body
I've stripped a lot of cars in my day, but this will be my first 4th-Gen Camaro. It's a '95 LT1/6-Speed car that's badly rolled, but still in running condition. I'm swapping everything into a Malibu, so I have to save everything that I might even possibly need for the swap. The Malibu is a complete and running car so between the two I should have most of what I need.
I am guessing that I start by pulling the rear end and tranny, then dropping the motor/k-member. I've never done that before so I'm afraid I'm going to miss unhooking wiring or other stuff and rip things apart.
I'll also be taking the airbags out to sell on ebay because they never deployed. I've heard that even static electricity can discharge them so I'm a little worried about messing with them. I have the factory service manuals so I can read through them, but there's nothing better than first-hand experience.
So can anyone give me a quick 10-step on what order things come apart the best in?

lets see, I pulled the engine/trans/k-member, then the rear end, then the fuel lines/tank, then I stripped the interior
when dropping the trans down, pull the center console open and pull the top and bottom boots off the shifter
other then that, there are plenty of good walk-throughs on the net for dropping thr engine/trans, this is a good one

he says to use that roll cart he made, but if you have access to a hoist, just set it on jack stands, then, when the car it in the air, put blocks of wood between the LCA and k-member, then set the whole thing on the front wheels, then put a floor jack under the trans mount, and you can roll it where ever you need
