Adjusting or Replacing Speedometer?
I have a 1995 V6 (3.4L Automatic) Chevrolet Camaro with a speedometer that goes up to 115. What I want to know is what is the easiest way for me to be able to read my current speed OVER 115mph.
I had a couple ideas about doing this, but I didn't know which were feasible and which werent:
1. Somehow having the speedometer recalibrated and have guage face replaced to reflect the recalibration.
2. Replacing the whole cluster with a newer cluster if possible (i.e. like from a 1998 camaro)
3. Somehow finding & attaching an external speedometer.
Of the 3 options, I think I liked the idea of an external speedometer the best. Basically, I would like to a second speedometer that I could mount/attach somewhere near my dash that gives me the same readings as my normal speedometer, but in situations where I go past 115, it would be able to give me an accurate reading.
Let me know whats doable, and if anyone knows of a place that sells external speedometers or if there is a specific type/brand I should look for, let me know.

What's the point? It's doubtful a 3.4 would even go over 115 without a steep hill. I'm pretty sure the PCM will shut it down before that if it could.
A gauge cluster from a 98 will not fit in your 95 without changing the entire dash. You would also have another problem as the tach in your cluster is specific to the 3.4.
If it would work (I don't know if it's possible at all), you could try installing your tach in a cluster from a 94-96 150mph Z28.

Right now the car can reach 115 and a little past easily, but yes, the compuer does cut off fuel automatically at a certain speed (around 108 I Think). However, I am likely going to have my PCM reprogrammed by a FastChip.com tuning, which will should give me a little better performance and at the very least, remove the limiter on my speed.
1. Get a 150 MPH cluster off of Ebay.
2. Remove 150 MPH speedomter from new cluster.
3. Install just the speedomter in you current cluster.
4. Start saving money to pay for reckless driving ticket and increased insuarance

what he said, but your tach will be read low after the swap...you'll need a "SGI-8" tach adapter from dakota digital...make sure you say its for 4thgen f-body when you do.
hmm...I've never done it that way but I've taken apart a few of the clusters (I have a few spares in my garage from having done the above swap in a few vehicles) and it seemed like all of the guages are integrated into the cluster's circuit board, the speedometers gauge motor itself can be removed, but i believe it gets the signal from the circuit board itself, but i could be wrong...either way it seems like more of a PITA than it's worth, because then you risk breaking the gauge needles and have to deal with recalibrating them...
