AC Recharge

Quick question,

How many cans of R-134a does it take to recharge the system if it has been completely discharged?

Thanks

Re: AC Recharge

There is a sticker on the engine bay that lists the type of refrigerant (R134a) and how many pounds it takes full. 16oz in a pound. Careful though, they have a tendancy to sell the freon in 12oz cans. Hope that helps

Re: AC Recharge

it shouldnt take over about 2lbs of refrigerant. with the car running and the a/c on max/high add 1/2lb to the system then feel the center vents and see how cold the air is. when it gets cold, quit adding and do not say oh well that is cold but it may get colder. if you add to much it will start blowing warm again.

Re: AC Recharge

I purchased one of those a/c pressure guages last weekend from Advance Auto Parts for around $11...it comes in very handy! Anyhoooo...my car took two 16 oz. cans and one 12 oz. That brought my pressure up to 43 psi which is good.
