AC Compressor oil requirements?
Re: AC Compressor oil requirements?
Someone just asked me this question and this is what I found:
The service manual says that up to 4 oz. of oil can accumulate in the compressor and that the oil in an old compressor should be drained and measured (then discarded). It also says replacement compressors come with 8 oz. of oil and that should be drained and retained for reuse. You reuse the amount that was recorded from the old compressor. That is about as clear as it gets with the instructions.

Thanks shoebox, that info sounds accurate. I was also doing some searches around on the web and found this PDF that has quite a few different compressors models with oil fill requirements. By the way I really appreciate your site, has saved me countless hours of researching.
