AC Compressor Help!

So this weekend I yanked off my old AC compressor because it was grinding real bad but AC still worked.

I took the old one to advancedauto without even thinking, didn't bother to really look at it or check it out before returning it. I'm in the process of installing the new one and I cant help but feel like something is missing. Here's a pic of the back of it...

Do I remove the black piece and put the ac lines in there? im confused

Re: AC Compressor Help!

Yes, exactly. The black piece is to keep the port clean until install. Hope you got your bracket off the back of the original.

Re: AC Compressor Help!

Keep it on until you're ready to attach the lines. Besides keeping dirt out, that black thing keeps the oil inside.....
