ABS INOP Light

Recently my ABS INOP light came and stays on in my 94 V6 Camaro. Anyone know what could have triggered that and what does the INOP mean? I don't drive the car much and took it out the other day to show it to someone and noticed the light was on.

ABS Inoperational...can be set by a couple of things. Easiest thing to check is the third break light, ABS will not work without a functioning third break light. I would try replacing the light even if the light works. Good luck.

Could also be a loose, dirty or disconnected wheel sensor on one of the front wheels. Bad fuse or relay, bad abs pump, low brake fluid, bad circuit in the alternator. Thats the first thing that came on when my alternator fried the last two times before I upgraded alternator brands. Check that bulb the last poster said, then fuses, swap the relay for a known good one, (probably horn or foglight relay, should be the same one) then check connections at the front wheels.

Also if the Ignition switch is fixin to go that would cause it too, had that happen once. Not the key or vats, but the actual electrical switch down the column. Check the wires going to it to make sure they arent overheating (it will be discolored or burnt if they are).
