? about prestone anti freeze.
prestone antifreeze full strength, why is it so light, antifreeze used to be dark green this stuff is almost clear. I see they have the pre mix stuff almost every where, but I brought the full strength thinking it would be dark green.and then when you mix it 50/50 with it it gets real light. Is this stuff any good? can I mix it with other anti freeze? is it safe for aluminum? what are you thoughts on it?

Did you buy the universal kind or the straight green kind? You can mix coolants as long as its not green with dec-xool or anything like that. It is safe for aluminum or it wouldn't be released because just about every radiator is aluminum. You'll be fine, if you see your running hotter just drain and get new coolant.

Prestone non-diluted has the black top and will mix with anything. It is safe for aluminum radiators and it used to be green but the company switched the color to yellow so people wouldn't get confused with the universal stuff and the green.

Yes, the only prestone coolant is 9.99 at Auto Zone, and the 50/50 is 8.99. The regular coolant is a darker green and really thick. The 50/50 is a light green due to the water mix and not as thick. Trust me, I should know, with in the last two week I've had to fill my car 6 times with coolant due to a waterpump change, then opti change, then my lower radiator hose coming off three times, then another opti change, and now I have to pull the water pump again due to the gasket not be on right. So, there you go, that coolant is cheap, I know.

Re: ? about prestone anti freeze.
Is this stuff pretty decent stuff? is there better stuff that can be picked up local? thanks
I just used it in my Z and my quad, the Z I don't use much and it sits alot so i just want to make sure it is protected. And the quad is mostlyu aluminum so i don't want to ruin that. I just can't get over how light it is, it is almost clear.
