99 Camaro handling
Go to the Tire Rack website on look at the ratings for things like dry traction, wet traction, handling, braking, tread life, noise, etc. You can find all the tires they sell in the size you want, then click on the ones you want to compare. May not have the exact brands you have in OZ though. It will give a chart with all the tires you selected, rated from 1 - 10 on each of the items listed above. The ratings are based on owner feedback, not any sort of side-by-side, rigorous testing procedure, but it will point out the extreme strengths and weaknesses of most tires.
We also have a "Wheels & Tires" forum, with a "sticky" for tire perfromance feedback.

Think I found problem
Think I found problem, just checked the Shock absorbers on the front of the car and found the front right bounces up and down more than I think it should. definitely more than the left side !, so now I will have to see if I can get them in Australia I guess. But I will have to do it as it is a bit scary when it bounces around when going around corners ( come to think of it, around right handers - that figures I think)
problem fixed
Yes it was just a matter of replacing all shocks and struts and now im driving a different car, there is so much more feel to the road now, I could not be any happier (well I would if id won 10 mil on Loto). Thanks to Pontiworld (David behind the counter Thanks M8) in Oak Flats down in Woolongong NSW GREAT help info and supply of my ACDelco Struts and Shocks. The back Shocks were easy to replace but the Front were much much harder. I spent all day putting the Front ones in with some help from my Mechanic, I must thank him also for the use of his workshop, Tools, Apprentice and his contacts who lent us the Spring compressor tool. Without this tool the job could not have been done.
As I said the car rides like a dream now thanks everyone here too for your input too, I feel this site is of great help to me and Im glad I have this site for inspiration and some technical help from the members using it too..

My 2000 SS did exactly the same thing to the point that it was kind of dangerous. NJ 195 near Allentown/Bordentown -- getting into the slow lane to take an exit was a scary thing due to the depressions made by heavy trucks and the car would shoot left and then right trying to climb up which ever side had the greatest outside inclination and then when you leave the interstate to the offramp, the transition was something that you had to pay attention to. I took the car to the STS in New Egypt and had the front end aligned and made it clear that I wanted to reduce the problem. The alignment service helped a lot but just getting new tires the next year made all of the difference. Yes, there is still a little of this happening but I'm not anywhere as dangerous as I was before. My car runs 275/40/17s
